Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you cost?

FairPlay will be pleased to provide you with a tailored quotation, taking into account season, day of the week, timings, location and requirements.  Discounts are offered in lower season. Our prices are competitive for a band of our size, experience and quality. We aim to respond to a quotation enquiry within 24 hours so no tedious waiting!

What's included in the package?

Every client will have slightly different requirements and we'll be as flexible as possible to accommodate.  Our typical package includes:

•  2 hours of totally live music  - 2 x 1 hour sets

•  5-piece band including male and female vocals, guitar, bass, drums & keyboard

•  Highly experienced musicians with more than 600 performances over 14 years

•  Professional sound engineer to guarantee perfect sound mix

•  10Kw professional PA system (you won't beat our sound)

•  Extensive top-end stage and room lighting

•  Disco to play in between live sets and to play the evening out

•  Sleek and classy stage attire. We will look the part at all times

How long do you take to set up?

Usually arriving from 5pm, FairPlay require 1.5 hours to set up and sound check from the point that we can access the stage area, then a short time to get changed.   If you require an earlier set up, please mention this in your enquiry.

How much space do you need?

The band requires a space measuring approximately 6m x 4m to be comfortably accommodated, however we have squeezed into some tighter spots in the past!  You can find our stage guide here but these are only rough guidelines, not a hard requirement.

What are your power/electricity requirements?

The band requires a minimum of two separate 13 amp plug outputs (2 x normal household electricity sockets.)  The equipment draws approximately 15Kw – 20Kw in power as a maximum.  This is not usually any issue for standard venues.  For marquees with generators it might be best to check with the marquee company.

Where is the band based and how far will you travel?

FairPlay will travel anywhere in the South West region, including Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Wiltshire, Devon, Dorset and on occasion, beyond (Cornwall, Gloucestershire and Wales etc).  The band members are based in Somerset, Wiltshire and Devon.

What do the band members usually wear?

The band wear professional smart FairPlay poloshirts whilst setting up, then will dress appropriately for the occasion.  The gents wear crisp white shirts under a blue waistcoat suit, our female singer will dazzle in a ball gown or smart dress.  We will look the part at all times as we know that every detail counts at a special event.

How long does the band play for?

Our package includes  2 hours of totally live music, generally split into two sets with a short break in between.  Before we play our first set we can play appropriate background music or disco music from our vast laptop library; as well as in between sets and afterwards to play the evening out.  Timings can be tailored to meet your requirements.

How do I enquire about booking Fairplay?

Please visit the Contact Us page and send us an email - we will respond within 24 hours.  If you would prefer to chat on the phone initially then just let us know.

When and how do I pay?

If you decide to book FairPlay, we will require a small deposit to secure the date.  The remaining balance will then be due either on or before the event date.  Payment can be made via online banking or cash.

Do we need to book a separate DJ?

No - FairPlay can cater for your DJ requirements by providing a laptop disco before, in between and after live sets. This is provided for FREE, included in our package price.  We have a vast music library, carefully selected to include the most popular tunes. Many clients find our inclusive disco a real bonus as it cuts down on cost, streamlines the evening's entertainment and requires just the one PA system.  Some find that a hired-in disco can sound inferior in comparison to our professional stage sound rig.  However, we are more than happy to work alongside a separate DJ if required.

What do the band require at the venue?

FairPlay members will be discreet and occupy themselves until the time comes to play.  All we ask for is a suitable room in which to get changed.

Do you provide your own PA and lighting?

Yes, and lots of it.  We will bring our own extensive stage and effects lighting, along with a 10Kw professional PA system.  If you are looking for a band with a top quality sound and energy, look no further.  We also come with a 'star cloth' - a black backdrop with twinkling lights which we use to improve the aesthetics of some stage areas.

Can we see you before we book you?

We recognise that choosing the right entertainment for your occasion is very important and we welcome potential clients at any public gig we perform.  Whilst the majority of our bookings are for private functions, we do play a small number of public showcase gigs and festivals each year. You can also find us on YouTube.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance?

Yes we do.  FairPlay have Public Liability Insurance to £2million and all equipment is PAT tested to comply with stringent electrical safety standards.

Can you play requests in the live set?

FairPlay have spent many years honing the live set list to include the very best guaranteed floor-fillers. Whilst we can't guarantee to learn a new song on request, if you have a particular favourite we may be able to play it during the laptop disco.
